I made this icon quite a while ago. It seems to me that it was made as a gift for someone, but I don't remember who. I'd like to use it, but if it's yours, please let me know that you don't mind me using it myself.

I survived BLACK FRIDAY! Nov. 28th, 2009 @ 10:21 am

Yes I did. I didn't get yelled at by one customer nor did I get trampled, stomped, shoved or in anyway Folded, Stapled, Spindled or Mutilated.
The perks of working in a craft store as opposed to a department store we get the overflow and people shopping Christmas decor. We had Cricut machines for $69.99! OMG!
Heard lots of horror stories about Target and Best Buy, we had a blizzard, one cashier didn't show, so they stuck me at a register (boo)but only for a while then back on the floor to play with Christmas ornaments and show people around. Off by noon and free till... well tonight anyway.

Over on LJ, [info - personal] janissa11 posted about making pumpkin bread. (I cannot seem to type "pumpkin" without putting a "g" on the end of it. Pumpking?) This morning after work I did the shopping for the Thanksgiving feast, and my usual grocery store did not have a single can of plain pumpkin, and only a few of the pumpkin pie mix. I grabbed two of those, just in case I couldn't find any pumpkin anyplace else. As it turned out, the grocery store I almost never go to had 16 oz. cans of plain pumpkin on sale, four for five bucks. So I had to buy four, right? I was feeling rather smug--instead of forgetting something like I usually do, I came home with extra stuff, rare, hard-to-find stuff!

But still, six cans of pumpkin, and I only need two. Inspired by Janissa, I hunted up a recipe for pumpkin bread that uses the pie mix; it's here at the Nestle/Libby's website. The house now smells like cinnamon and cloves and nutmeg. I am really looking forward to toasting a piece or two of this bread in the morning.

And as I made the bread, I discovered that I did forget something. We're almost out of sugar. Back to the store tomorrow...

Is it me, or does there seem to be a thick fog of pissed-offed-ness floating around these last couple days?

Also, (just to add my little bit to that cloud of irritation) if you are going to quit a group or activity, just quit. No need for the self-righteous last-word post/email/speech to the membership at large, providing the excruciatingly detailed reasons why the thing no longer meets your expectations. You're leaving; if you don't have anything constructive to say to the leadership of said group, don't bother saying anything at all. See ya. (It's a well-worn gripe, yet it feels fresh and sharp every time it happens.)

On a cheerier note, Spouse and I attended a truly delightful party on Sunday. Started with breakfast, it did, and went on to bonfire and drunken roistering in the late hours. I actually fired guns--and enjoyed it. This means that I have to do some thinking about the black-and-white nature of my anti-gun beliefs. (Kindly do not provide your views on this in the comments, if you don't mind. Feel free to email me off-journal if you'd like--it's ee1958 at gmail dot com.) Good food, fun people, lots and lots of laughing and telling stories and goofing around. Wow, I needed that.

I forgot today was Tuesday, and I missed NCIS. Boo. Will have to search for alternative sources, unless it was a rerun.

Did I mention that this month's Details magazine has a brief interview with Ian McKellen? A little discussion of that tattoo is had. He's a very wry person--comes across as being quite charming. And if you like Adam Lambert, there are some right sexy photos of him, as well as a fairly good article.

Off to do some reading and then some sleeping. Nighty-night!
